29 players have been named thus far to 40 man squad. The Cape Coral Hurricanes announced today that they have chosen the first 29 players that will be part of their overall 40 man squad for the 2012 Exhibition Season. On March 8th three of the six Cape Coral Police K9 teams received certification through the prestigious National Police Canine Association (NPCA). Sidewalk Project at Mariner High School to Start Monday, March 5

The City will begin installing new sidewalks at Mariner High School beginning Monday, March 5. The City’s sidewalk crew will be moving equipment, cones and barricades to the site in the afternoon, and excavation will start Tuesday morning. The right lanes on northbound Chiquita Boulevard and eastbound Tropicana Parkway will be closed at different times during the construction. The project will take four to six weeks. 25 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit on all Local Streets

(Fort Myers, FL: March 2, 2012) - On December 5, 2011, City Council approved ordinance No. 3609 regarding reducing City-wide speed limits on all local streets from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. NICB, Police and Insurance Companies Team to Combat Insurance Fraud

48 Law Enforcement Officers representing the Cape Coral and Fort Myers Police Departments and the Florida Highway Patrol's DOT Division teamed up with the NICB and 23 insurance agents to crack down on auto insurance fraud. According to figures from the NICB, millions of dollars are being paid out daily for automobile insurance fraud. Much of that is passed along to law abiding drivers. Officers conducted a wolf pack style roving patrol operation, pulling over drivers for moving violations.

On January 18th a 14 year old girl was walking home from her bus stop near the 2000 Block of Del Prado Blvd North when a white two-door car drove past her slowly. (January 30, 2012)- An anonymous tip from a citizen has led to the arrest of John J Cruz (08/20/75) of Cape Coral for two counts of grand theft. Cape Coral Police Make Arrest in Overnight Armed Robbery

(January 24, 2012)- At 1:30am, Cape Coral Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven store located at 3206 Santa Barbara Blvd. The clerk told police that an unknown male entered the store and attempted to purchase cigarettes. Upon the clerk ringing up the sale, the male pulled two knives from his pants pocket and demanded all of the money from the register.
